How to play
Every board is a square grid split into colored patches. Place the pups so that:
- every row and every column has exactly one pup,
- every colored patch has exactly one pup,
- no two pups touch, not even corner to corner.
- Tap a cell to mark it with an X when no pup can sit there. Tap again to clear it.
- Drag across cells to mark many at once. Start on an X to erase instead.
- Double-tap a cell to place a pup. Prefer single taps? Turn on tool mode in Settings, then pick the paw or the X under the board.
- Undo takes back your last move. A lost heart stays lost.
A pup in the wrong cell costs a heart, and you have three. A wrong X costs nothing, so mark freely. Every board has exactly one answer and can be solved by logic alone, without guessing.
Stars: three for no mistakes and no hints, two if you needed just one mistake or hint in total, one for any other win.

Questions
I deleted the app or got a new iPhone. Where is my progress?
Your game lives only on your iPhone. Pawsitions has no account and no cloud sync, so we have no copy to restore, and progress is not linked to your Apple Account or shared between devices.
Like other app data, your progress is included in your iPhone’s own backups (iCloud Backup or a backup on your computer). To get it back on a new iPhone, or after deleting the app, restore from a backup that was made while Pawsitions was installed. Setting up a new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup of your old one brings your progress across.
How do streaks work, and when does the daily puzzle reset?
There is one daily puzzle a day, the same for everyone. A new one arrives at midnight UTC, which is a different local time depending on where you live. The Daily tab shows when that is for you.
- Your streak is the number of days in a row you solved the daily puzzle on its day.
- It ends only after a whole day passes without a solve. If you haven’t played today yet, your streak from yesterday is still alive.
- If you start a daily before the reset and finish after it, it still counts for its day.
- Only your first solve of the day counts. Missed days can be played later from the calendar as catch-ups, just for fun: they don’t pay treats, don’t appear in the Pack League and don’t change your streak.
- Your best streak is kept. Pups you earn from streaks (at 3, 7, 14 and 30 days) stay yours even if a streak ends.
Weekday boards are 8×8, Saturday’s is 9×9 and Sunday’s is 10×10.
How do hints work?
A hint shows the next logical step, highlights the cells that prove it and explains why it works. If you crossed out a cell where a pup belongs, the hint points that out first. Tap Apply and the step is done for you.
You start with 3 hints. You earn 1 more for every daily puzzle you solve, and you can trade 25 treats for another when you run out. Using a hint lowers that board’s stars.
What are treats for, and how do I get more?
Treats are the game’s own currency. They are earned only by playing and can never be bought with money.
- Journey wins: 10 treats plus 5 for every star, so 15, 20 or 25. Replaying a level you have already cleared pays again only if you beat your star count.
- Practice wins: 5 treats.
- Solving the daily puzzle: 50 treats.
- Finishing a chapter for the first time: 100 treats.
Spend them on hints (25), on one extra heart when a run runs out of hearts (30, once per run), and on adopting the pups that aren’t earned through chapters or streaks.
What happens when I run out of hearts?
The run ends. You can start the board over, or keep going once per run with one extra heart for 30 treats. The board stays just as you left it.
Are the Pack League rivals real players?
No. The Ranks tab is the Pack League: you against 48 rival pups with names like Sir Waffles and Biscuit the Corgi. They are computer-simulated characters, made up on your iPhone, each with their own habits. Some play every day, some in streaks, some early and some late, and they post daily times and climb the journey as the days go by. Nothing is shared online, there are no other players, and nobody else sees your name, times or levels.
Your own results are real: your daily time, journey level and stars are what get ranked among the rivals. The Today and Yesterday boards rank daily solve times; the All-time board ranks journey level, then total stars. Today’s board fills in as the UTC day goes by, because each rival “plays” at their own usual time.
How do I change my name?
Open Settings › Profile and edit your display name (2 to 20 characters), or tap your pup at the top of the Ranks tab. Your name appears only on your own row in the Pack League, on your iPhone, and is never sent anywhere.
How do I reset my progress?
Open Settings › Reset progress. This erases your journey levels and stars, daily results and streaks, treats, hints, saved games and every pup except your first one, and starts your Pack League over, so the rivals begin ahead of you again. Your display name and settings stay. The app asks you to confirm, and a reset can’t be undone.

What accessibility features does Pawsitions have?
- VoiceOver: board cells and controls have spoken labels, the board has rotors to jump between pups and empty cells, and moves, mistakes, hints and wins are announced.
- Text size: text follows your Dynamic Type size and layouts rearrange at larger sizes. Bold Text is supported.
- Color: color-blind patterns add a pattern to every colored patch (Settings › Color-blind patterns). They turn on automatically when Differentiate Without Color is on. Increase Contrast makes lines and text stronger.
- Motion: Reduce Motion follows your iPhone’s setting, or you can turn it on or off for Pawsitions alone in Settings.
- Touch: tool mode lets you play with single taps instead of double-taps and drags.
- Comfort: light and dark appearance, and switches for sound, haptics and the timer.
Do I need an account? Does it work offline?
No account is needed, and there is nothing to sign in to. Every puzzle is made on your iPhone, so the journey, the daily puzzle, practice, the Pack League and your collection all work without a connection. Pawsitions never connects to the internet, so airplane mode makes no difference.
Does Pawsitions have ads, purchases or tracking?
No ads, no in-app purchases, no tracking and no analytics. Pawsitions collects no personal data. Read the privacy policy for the details.
